Karen Uzark is a Clinical Associate Professor of Cardiac Surgery and Pediatrics (Cardiology) and is Assistant Director of the Michigan Congenital Heart Outcomes Research and Discovery (MCHORD) program. Her undergraduate education was at the University of Michigan School of Nursing. She earned a MSN at Wayne State University and a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan School of Public Health in Health Behavior and Health Education.
She has been a pediatric nurse practitioner in pediatric cardiology since 1979. Her clinical interests include congenital heart disease from infancy to adulthood and pediatric heart transplantation. Her research focuses on clinical and psychosocial outcomes (quality of life) in children with congenital or acquired heart disease and their families. She is nationally recognized for her research in this area.
