Tic-Tac-Toe

Take a fun indoor game and move it outside! But make it superhero-sized for even more fun!

What You’ll Need:

  • 8 paper plates in one color (more if you want to play a larger grid)
  • 8 paper plates in a different color (more if you want to play a larger grid)
  • Permanent marker
  • Masking or painter’s tape

Instructions:

  • Step 1: Take the stack of one of the colors of paper plates and mark an “X” on the front of each plate using the permanent marker.
  • Step 2: Take the stack of the other color plates and mark an “O” on the front of each plate using the permanent marker.
  • Step 3: Using the masking or painter’s tape, make the typical 3X3 grid (see photo above) on a sidewalk, pavement, or grassy area outside! For older children, you can make a larger grid, such as a 5X5 or 7X7.

  • Step 4: You’re ready to play with a friend or adult! One person is the “X” plates, and one person is the “O” plates. Play like you would on paper by placing your “X” or “O” plate in a square on the grid. The first one to get three in a row wins!
