Snowball Launcher

Build your own “snowball” launcher and see how far you can launch different household items!

An adult should help with this activity for the cutting and use of a hot glue gun.

What You’ll Need:

  • Balloon
  • Scissors
  • Small plastic cup (see photo above for the one we found works best)
  • Hot glue gun and glue stick for it (have an adult help you)
  • Styrofoam ball, cotton balls and other various small household items you’d like to test out launching

Instructions:

Step 1: Have an adult cut the bottom out of the cup, leaving the bottom rim so the cup remains sturdy.

Step 2: Tie a knot in the neck of the balloon. Then cut off the large end of the balloon (not the side with the knot).

Step 3: Use a glue gun to glue the open side of the balloon around the bottom edge of the cup (see our photo above).

Step 4: Start launching by placing your item in the cup and pulling down on the balloon’s knot to release it! Test out different items to see the distance they will fly through the air!
