Puddle Jumping Game

Spring weather often brings rain showers to help plants bloom and grow. This game combines literacy skills with motor skills and can be played indoors or outside. Hop from puddle to puddle as words are called. And don’t forget your umbrella!

Adjust this game to fit your child’s age and learning level by using higher reading level words, numbers or math problems, etc.

What You’ll Need:

  • Paper plates
  • Paintbrush
  • Shades of blue acrylic or washable paint
  • Permanent marker
  • Painter’s tape
  • Umbrella

Instructions:

Step 1: Paint your paper plates in various shades of blue paint.

Step 2: After the paint has dried, have an adult use a permanent marker to write a word, math equation, etc. you are learning on each plate.

Step 3: Use painter’s tape to adhere your plates to the ground, spreading them out (see above photo).

Step 4: Grab your umbrella and have an adult call out the word, answer to the equation, etc. and jump to the correct puddle! Have fun jumping through your puddles until all of them have been called!
