Make a friend, and Mother Nature, smile with a cute flowerpot made from recycled materials.
Make sure younger children are careful around the can’s sharp edge.
What You’ll Need:
- A clean and dry tin can
- Popsicle sticks (you can clean and recycle ones after you and your friends eat a summertime treat, or pick up a bag from the craft store)
- Twine or string
- Colored markers
- Craft glue
- Potting soil
- A small plant or succulent
Instructions:
Step 1: Color and decorate one flat side of each popsicle stick using the markers.
Step 2: Glue the popsicle sticks decorated side facing up to the outside face of the can, lining them up edge to edge next to each other until they cover the whole outside of the can (see photo above).
Step 3: Cut and tie a piece of twine or string into a bow around the popsicle sticks (see photo above).
Step 4: Fill the can halfway with potting soil. Place your plant or succulent in the soil. Fill around the plant to the top of the can with more soil.
Step 5: Make sure you keep your new flower watered and getting sunlight!
