Cotton Ball Painting

Who says you need to use paint brushes to make a masterpiece?  Kids will have fun experimenting with the different designs they can make using cotton balls as their “brushes.”

What you’ll need:

  • Heavy paper (to stand up to your paint)
  • Paint pallet
  • Washable kid-friendly paint
  • Cotton balls
  • Clothes pins

Instructions:

  1. Pour a small amount of each color of paint into separate areas on your palette.
  2. Attach a clothes pin to each cotton ball, making at least one “paint brush” per paint color.
  3. Start painting!

If you don’t have a paint palette, you can use a muffin tin or small plastic cups for each paint color.

For another twist, use painter’s tape to block off words or designs on your paper before starting to paint.  Once the paint is dry, peel the tape off to reveal your design!

This project was inspired by an activity here.
