Programs and Clinics at the Congenital Heart Center

The University of Michigan Congenital Heart Center has many special programs and clinics for our patients, to ensure that they receive the most comprehensive spectrum of care available. Each program is integrated to ensure that patients receive seamless care from our entire network of congenital heart specialists.

Adult Congenital Heart Clinic

This clinic provides outpatient evaluation and follow-up for patients with congenital heart disease who are ages 18 and up.

Cardiac Electrophysiology Program

This program has more than 25 years experience managing arrhythmias in children and young adults, including individuals with repaired congenital heart disease.

Preventative Cardiology

This clinic is designed to help prevent early cardiovascular health problems caused by atherosclerosis for children with hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol) and hypertension (high blood pressure).

Pulmonary Hypertension Clinic

This clinic is intended for the evaluation, treatment and follow-up for pediatric patients with pulmonary hypertension.

Cardiac Anesthesia Service

This service provides specialized care for children with congenital heart disease requiring procedures such as open heart surgery and other diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Cardiothoracic Surgery Clinic

This clinic provides comprehensive care for patients of all ages with all types of congenital heart disease, including children with congenital and acquired diseases involving the chest and adults with congenital heart disease.

Family Based Prevention Program

This is an eight-week wellness program to improve the lifestyle habits of children (at least 10 years of age) and parents who have or who are at risk for obesity, diabetes, heart problems and lack of exercise.

Pediatric Cardiology Intensive Care Unit

This is a 30-bed, state-of-the-art medical and surgical intensive care unit dedicated to the collaborative management of infants, children and adults with congenital heart disease or heart disease acquired during childhood.

Pediatric Cardiovascular Genetic Clinic

This clinic specializes in the care of patients with a family history of heart disease and patients with a genetic syndrome that may involve malformations or dysfunctions of the heart, such as Marfan syndrome, Turner syndrome or muscular dystrophy.

Prenatal Heart Program

This service provides compassionate and comprehensive care for women and families faced with a possible cardiac abnormality in their unborn babies.
