After-Hours Care for Pediatric Primary Care Patients

C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital is pleased to offer a variety of after-hours care options for our pediatric primary care patients, including E-Visits as well as our after-hours phone service.

For life threatening/serious illness or injury please call 9-1-1 or go to the nearest emergency department.  You do not need to call your cinic for permission.

E-Visits

An E-Visit is a convenient way to contact a Michigan Medicine provider for common, non-urgent medical conditions. You can submit a questionnaire regarding your child’s symptoms for a variety of specific conditions and receive a quick reply from a Michigan Medicine provider through the MyUofMHealth patient portal. Learn more about E-Visits.

After-Hours Phone Service

All of our primary care clinics offer an after-hours phone service staffed by Michigan Medicine registered nurses. This service is offered 7 days a week, 365 days a year for established pediatric primary care patients.

To speak to a provider after normal business hours, call your pediatric primary care clinic and you will be transferred to the after-hours phone service.

A registered nurse will provide a general assessment of your symptoms and help you determine the appropriate level of care, including discussing additional symptoms to watch for, how to manage your care at home or while awaiting treatment, or directing you to appropriate further treatment depending on the urgency of your symptoms.

Please note that the after-hours phone service does not provide access to speak with your specific provider, prescription renewal assistance, or help rescheduling or canceling existing appointments. Please use the MyUofMHealth patient portal or call your clinic during normal business hours for appointment rescheduling and prescription assistance.

For life threatening/serious illness or injury, please call 9-1-1 or go to the nearest emergency department.
