Hospital Art Collection

The Art Collection of the University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital is located throughout the hospital and clinic buildings in publicly accessible areas. The 260 piece collection consists of both established and emerging artists with an emphasis on Michigan-based and women artists, and includes paintings, works on paper, site-specific installations, fiber work, ceramics, glass, photography, projected interactive work and kinetic sculpture.

Each level showcases the work of four to five artists; the level 2 Concourse features a gallery of multiple works by nine artists; the Main and South Lobbies have interactive and site-specific installations; and a lively mural fills the windows of all nine clinic floors, viewable from inside and out. Developed in consultation with the University of Michigan Museum of Art, the Art Collection of the Children’s Hospital and Women’s Hospital is comprised of colorful, uplifting and contemplative works of art of high aesthetic quality that mirror the playful yet sophisticated architecture of the new building.
