Palliative Care

The Pediatric Palliative Care Consultation Service is a team of doctors, nurses, social workers and spiritual care providers that is available to help you make difficult decisions if your child has a complex, chronic or terminal condition. One of their goals is to guide parents as they make medical care choices, including pain management and symptom control, that are consistent with the quality of life that you and your child desire.
Palliative Care can be provided at any point throughout an illness, which is different from hospice care. Hospice is a service that provides similar care but only at the end of life. If you feel that Palliative Care may be beneficial for your child, ask your doctor to request a Palliative Care Team consult.
Palliative Care services are provided by physician referral only. For more information, call 734-232-9593.
